A challenge to the process? The Economic Times in India comments that “developing countries are expected to push for a broader range of candidates and to contend the practice of giving the presidency to an American is outdated”. Let’s certainly hope so. At present the concrete signs of a challenge to the US dominance of this important global position are slight indeed, but we will report early next week on how developing countries and their allies are getting organised behind the scenes.
