Insider speaks out.
"An open process with a search panel should be the approach for all multilateral institutions," says Peter Woicke, outgoing executive vice president of the World Bank's private lending arm, the International Finance Corporation. Woicke was speaking to the FT, which believes his willingness to publicly oppose a backroom deal reflects wider concern within the Bank about the succession process. The FT mentions Randall Tobias and Peter McPherson for the job, before noting (slightly waspishly) that: "outside the US, Colin Powell is seen a very strong candidate."
