Riza's spinmeisters?UPDATED
Looks like some Washington Post journalists are being given carte blanche to empathize with Riza. Reading the following piece on Page C01 of today's Washington Post, I couldn't help myself sorting out the errors:
1. Born in Saudi Arabia (I thought it was Libya or Tunisia)
2. When Wolfowitz became bank president in 2005, she was required to leave her position as a communications specialist and she went to the Foundation for the Future. ( She was seconded to the State Department according to Wolfowitz which they referred to only on page 3)
3.Few details about Riza's youth or family are publicly known, but acquaintances say she grew up in Libya ( wrong again- grew up in KSA)
As far as the Turkish journalist Cengiz Candar the following is an edifying piece on PW and a secretive society.
Seems to me that this article was written in a hurry to portrait the positive side of Riza since she knows that she is in big trouble for diregarding the directives of the WB requesting staff not work in an OCCUPIED country (Iraq) in 2003 ( see HERE) . Is it going, going, gone?

Riza must realise that she is "toast". Now another defender has written a letter to WaPo ( Washington Post ) again "to put in a good word for Shaha Ali Riza, especially in the midst of what seems to be an unfair and vicious campaign against her." Meh! The author "one longtime colleague, leading Palestinian peace activist and philosopher Sari Nusseibeh", wrote this open letter on her behalf.
Irony oh Irony! another compliment :"Her uppermost concern was ensuring that there was no malpractice -- no financing that was going to the wrong people or organizations."
The best conclusion:"I don't believe that the World Bank or the State Department could find a person more devoted to their work in this part of the world than Shaha. Nor, I believe, could underprivileged people from this region hope for a more sympathetic ear in Washington."
Well let's see if the Iraqi families who for the past 4 years are living in Hell on Earth will consider her as a devoted person to their cause.
