Zoellick will get the nod from Germany

Bloomberg is reporting that “The German government has told the Bush administration that it would support the nomination of former U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick to head the World Bank, a German government official said.

I guess that, in spite of global calls for an open, merit-based process, the German government has realized that the White House is determined to appoint the next Bank President.
OR
may be the Europeans are also protecting their arrangement for nominating the Director of the IMF.
Will the other members tag along? or will we see some dissension amongst some other countries with respect to this tradition?
