Europeans remain cool. Belgian Finance Minister Didier Reynders is pushing for the 25 European member states to come to a common position on the Wolfowitz nomination. The story issued yesterday by Xinhuanet contrasts the cautious European response to Wolfowitz to the enthusiasm shown by Japan and Australia. It talks of "many reservations being aired in the corridors", and cites Stefaan Declercq General Secretary of Oxfam Solidarité demanding that the Bank selection process "must change".
