Looking Beyond Wolfowitz Reuters is carrying a piece that begins to look beyond the inevitable downfall of Wolf the second and towards the question of changing the selection process for WB presidents.

After I read the article I was left wondering what a good demand on this would be... Representation is all well and good, but any candidate for WB presidency is likely to be an ally of the U.S. and a friend to the World Bank status quo. His group can come up with appropriate invectives to describe PW and SR and their behavior in front of the EDs this week.

I second that. Bring back Don Imus. I would give good money to hear how he would slice and dice PW and SR. Can't you imagine his conversations with the DC insiders on this? His invective could end these two railroaders.

Wolfowitz continues to use the Bank's resources to attack the World Bank Board and its Ethics Committee and to mislead the public. Today his statement to the Board was posted on the Bank's external website: http://go.worldbank.org/A5SX8RM210 . The statements by Messrs. Danino and Melkert were, however, not posted. They should be posted alongside his own statement. Likewise, the Melkert and Danino statements should be emailed to all staff by Management (Office of the President or EXT), for their information. If they are not, the Board should consider placing Wolfowitz on administrative leave, to prevent further abuse by his selective presentation of "facts."
