who will be next World Bank President What will they do

Daily Show on Wolfowitz and the Bank I'm laughing so hard I'm crying. I hate the Daily Show site, so here's a link to a blog that has both segments. The first starts on Condi Rice and then moves to Wolfowitz who, as Jon Stewart points out, is now arguing that he gave his girlfriend a raise, a promotion and guarantees of more to come to prevent a conflict of interest.

The quote from the second is so good, I'll let it speak for itself: "No, no, it’s not a conspiracy Jon. It’s merely a secretive global cabal that manipulates governments at whim and is run with no oversight by a man named Wolfowitz… who sits quietly in his office deciding who shall live and who shall die." Oh and I want a high-res version of Wolfowitz on his throne for a poster, if there are any graphic design geeks out there with sufficient skills.

Shengman raises an important issue --- he is legally married to his wife that worked at the Bank.

Wolfowitz is not legally married to Riza.

Two different sets of rules apply to these relationships.

That raises another question....

Could it be that he cannot legally marry her in the United States because he is not divorced from his wife Clare Selgin Wolfowitz?

That would appear to be the case.

Bottom line: PW wants the Bank to pay for his mistress.

If that is what he wants, why don't he get a job in one of the countries he complains so much about where such public corruption and polygamy or bigamy is perfectly acceptable?

This whole website is a slanderous disgrace.

Do you realise that all you are doing is adding fuel to the accusation that this whole thing is a stitch up by internal bank people?

The question is whether or not Wolfowitz abused bank rules.

The likelihood is that he didn't, but we'll see what the various committees say about it.

Every time someone on this website suggests that the issue is 'really' one of whether Wolfowitz's deputies tried to adjust birth control or environmental policy, it undermines the case against him.

Every time anyone suggests that Shaha Riza was complicit in the whole affair, the whole website becomes merely a ridiculous vendetta.

Wolfowitz will stay or he will go. Trying to pre-empt or influence the decision will likely have the opposite effect.

So it Wolfowitz stays, you only have your ridiculous selves to blame. And if he goes, you'll have nothing to be proud of, only the empty promise of some other timid jobsworth in the position.

A way to ease Wolfowitz and Riza out.... gracefully

It looks like Wolfie will get some greenmail to get lost.... but the problem remains.. what about Riza?

That means the bank gets Riza back... ugh...

Well... have anyone considered a side deal to help both Wolfie and Riza out?

Deborah Jeane Palfrey might be willing to sell the client list (aka phone logs) for her now defunct business, together with other tangible assets like her employment contracts, contacts, etc. to help this couple launch a new business right in DC.

Since Palfrey is rather destitute these days, who knows, maybe she will be willing to sell the assets cheap.

What if Bank employees were to take up a collection and appoint Alison Caves to cut a deal?

Imagine.... Riza... she can get a promotion from being a 'line employee' to being a member of senior management in the new venture.

Whats more, the business probably pays better than her current line of work, and there is no requirement that she has to retire.

How about it?

Thanks for linking me Sameer. Since you were nice enough to link me, here is the best quality screencap of the image that I could get from the original video. Maybe someone with more time can create a high-res version from scratch. Peace.
