Will Africa speak up? Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, the CEO of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation is urging Ghana, which holds the Chair of the African Union "to play a leadership role in quickly mobilizing an African position on the selection of a new World Bank president" Dr. Spio-Garbrah goes on to say: "The Bank’s African shareholders and borrowers should try hard now to salvage the Bank, in the interest of the billions of poor people in developing countries that the Bank claims to champion. Most of these poor people have no voice at the Bank. Their relatively pliant governments, for fear of possible victimization, have kept quiet in public during the tribulations of Wolfowitz."
